Diakese vs Vannata: The Ultimate Flashy Fight

By James Lee

A fight that is going under the radar at UFC Copenhagen is the fight between Marc Diakese and Lando Vannata. Although the pair aren’t near the top of the lightweight division, their fighting styles have put themselves as fan favourites for a reason.

The pair’s flashy style is one of the most exciting in the sport. Fans love to see spinning strikes and both men are unpredictable in providing devastating knockouts. Seeing both men attack each other in their unconventional way could be a classic.

Both have struggled to capture continuous success in the organisation but have always been dangerous and exciting. The fight isn’t between two of the sport’s best, but it doesn’t have to be. The different array of strikes should amaze fans and create an energetic atmosphere with anything possible at any moment throughout the fifteen minutes.

Whether it be Lando Vannata landing a spinning kick knockout like he did to John Makdessi or Marc Diakese landing a knockout punch; something will happen in Denmark.

The Englishman began his UFC journey with stardom as he dominated and had a special performance at UFC London in 2017, with a thirty-second finish of Teemu Packalen. With three UFC finishes and his career at 12-0, he suffered three defeats in a row. He fought back though this March with a decision win over Joe Duffy to save his UFC career.

Vannata is similar to Diakese in the sense he is a highly-competent striker who can end the fight at any time. Since his debut in 2016, the American has tallied up four performance bonuses with three being fight of the night.

The bout has potential to be fight of the night in Copenhagen despite multiple matchups on the card also looking promising.

The fight is scheduled for the preliminary card but shouldn’t be missed. It is one of the most intriguing fights this month, where truly anything could happen at any time.
