Dillian Whyte Statement:

Dillian Whyte has certainly been in the news over the last 48 hours or so. On Wednesday, respected journalist Thomas Hauser released an article via Boxing Scene regarding an alleged failed drugs test just 3 days prior to his fight with Oscar Rivas on Saturday night.

The said drugs test was carried out by UKAD, Whyte was then called to an independent panel hearing on the day of the fight to provide further information and he was cleared to compete against Rivas. We should deduce from that, that Whyte’s explanation was deemed satisfactory.

Neither the WBC or the camp of Rivas were notified of the adverse findings in the drugs test.

Eddie Hearn in an Interview with IFL TV on Thursday stated:

“There’s a lot I can say and can’t say, legally, on this situation. What I can say is both guys were tested by VADA and UKAD in the build-up to this fight.

“Both fighters were cleared by them and the Board to take part in this fight. There was a hearing prior to this fight, where Dillian Whyte was asked to provide information. That hearing took part with an independent panel and he was cleared to fight.”

Further to to this, Whyte himself released the following statement earlier today:

“I am so disappointed with the rubbish that has been said about me over the last few days.

“I have lawyers dealing with it and I have been told that I can’t talk about it for good legal reasons. I was cleared to fight and I won that fight fair and square. Thanks for the support.”

This story looks set to run and all the facts of the case are not yet in the public domain, and we do have to reserve judgement until we know all the facts.
