UFC Fight Night 155: Under the Radar
By Ben Jessop
The UFC take over Sacramento, California this weekend to showcase Fight Night 155 – After the madness of UFC239, this card has been criticised by some fans as not showcasing enough big talent, or big names – headlined by a women’s bantamweight showdown between Germaine de Randamie and undefeated Aspen Ladd and with a co-main event of UFC legend Urijah Faber vs Ricky Simon.
There’s very little traction in the MMA community for this event and coming off the thrill of UFC 239 you can see why.
If you look past the main event and co-main there are a couple of fights that spike interest, one fight I’ve heard nothing about in the build-up is Josh Emmett vs Mirsad Bektic.
This has all the makings of a great fight, and with Josh Emmett coming off a round three KO of Michael Johnson back in March of this year and Mirsad Bektic coming off a split decision win over Ricardo Lamas – albeit this was in June of 2018 so he has had over a year out of the octagon.
With that in mind, Emmett did defeat Ricardo Lamas back in December of 2018 with a first round KO so Mirsad will be cautious of that KO power that Josh Emmet undoubtedly has. Mirsad has gas in the tank and is comfortable going the distance with anyone.
This is going to be quite a dog fight with both fighters desperately needing another win in the column and in the featherweight division, no fighter can really afford to be taking or stacking losses.
The top ten of the division is phenomenal so a win here gives both fighters a remarkable opportunity to take on perhaps a top five guy in their next fight.
Keep your eyes open for this one, it could be the fight of the night.
