Fury vs Schwarz: Enough Already

Fury vs Schwarz: Enough Already

Tyson Fury will enter the latest phase of his inspirational comeback later tonight, but sadly I won’t be watching.

Fury’s fight with the unbeaten German heavyweight Tom Schwarz has somehow been deemed worthy of being PPV material by BT Sport.

Fury can fight whoever he wants, and the powers that be can pay him whatever they feel he is worth. But when people are expected to pay an additional fee on top of their monthly subscription, I think we have a right to expect something much better than what is on offer tonight.

Schwarz is unbeaten, and is rather worryingly ranked number 2 by the WBO, but most experts would have him nowhere near the top 20, Boxrec have him outside the top 50.

It’s the equivalent of being asked to pay for Manchester City against Notts County.

I get the fight is about building Fury to a new audience in the States, although I struggle to see the need, but to charge us extra for it is what I have an issue with.

Fury vs Schwarz is likely to be nothing more than a exhibition, a sparring session for the masses. Andy Ruiz Jr sprung the upset a few weeks ago, but promoters shouldn’t promote fights on a fake promise that lightening might strike twice, it rarely does, and it won’t tonight.

It’s not a fight in the proper sense of the word, PPV or not I would have very little interest in it, why watch when you know what is to come.
