FightPost Team Predictions:
Tyson Fury vs Tom Schwarz
By Josh Wooler
Tyson Fury will make his Las Vegas debut tonight when he takes on unbeaten German heavyweight Tom Schwarz.
Fury (27-0-1, 19KO) was last out in December when he took on WBC champion Deontay Wilder in a controversial draw which ended with that unforgettable twelfth round in which Fury was heavily dropped yet remarkable rose from the canvas to finish the fight on top.
The Gypsy King has apparently agreed terms with Wilder for a rematch which is expected to take place either later this year or in early 2020, although Schwarz will be doing everything he can to scupper these plans.
Fury enters the fight as the heavy favourite and rightly so given Schwarz’s questionable record, however it is impossible to completely dismiss a heavyweight upset following Andy Ruiz’s spectacular performance against Anthony Joshua two weeks ago.
That being said, I don’t see Fury being troubled in the slightest and expect him to thoroughly dominate Schwarz from the first bell. Despite not possessing the explosive power of a Wilder or Joshua, I’m predicting Fury to seal the victory inside the distance, with Schwarz’s team pulling him out in the later rounds, as has been the case with Fury’s last three stoppages.
The majority of the FightPost team are leaning the same way, although I also wouldn’t be shocked to see Schwarz hang on until the final bell.
