Robbery is a word that’s over used in boxing, Katie Taylor was perhaps fortunate but nothing more.

Delfine Persoon made her work extremely hard for her controversial victory. Taylor was rarely given time or space, crude yes, but Persoon was effective.

Taylor looked to be struggling down the stretch, she was caught surprisingly often and she found her opponents relentless pressure difficult to deal with.

I had it 95-95 at the end, but certainly wouldn’t have complained if the Belgium had got the decision. The judges gave it to Taylor by scores of 95-95 and 96-94, 96-94.

Taylor is now the undisputed world lightweight champion, but Persoon deserves a rematch, many will say she deserved more tonight.
