Andy Ruiz Jr: Coming for History

Andy Ruiz Jr: Coming for History

By Michael Rueda

Andy Ruiz Jr (32-1) is coming for history and all the glory against Anthony Joshua (22-0) come Saturday evening/Sunday morning depending where you are in the world.

This will be Ruiz Jr’s second attempt at a heavyweight title and with a victory the first heavyweight of Mexican descent to capture one.

For years Ruiz was seen as talented and could maybe get there, but sometimes it seemed as a lack of effort or just not being fully committed stopped it from happening.

Ruiz has fought top 20 fighters and older veterans and has had some solid wins. Obviously going against Joshua he will face his toughest opponent to date.

Ruiz is a fighter with exceptional hand speed and real ability he does possess an Amateur record of (105-5) and he won National titles in Mexico as well as a world Ringside heavyweight title. Ruiz turned pro in early 2009 and had two fights in 3 months with both wins coming by first round knockout.

This is where you could see a bit how his career would go. He did not return to the ring for 8 months after his second fight and as a prospect it’s good to stay busy. He has had breaks in between fights of 8, 9, 10, and 15 months.

At times he has looked uninterested and at times you could see the lack of focus. In his lone loss to Joseph Parker he gave a very solid effort and lost a majority decision and many said he should have been given the victory.

What you get in Ruiz is a tough quick handed solid puncher who will not back down. He has asked to fight the best and knows against Joshua that is what he is getting. He is also trying to own a big piece of boxing history as the first Mexican world heavyweight champion and with the rich history of Mexican boxing to be the first to do something involving titles is big.

I’ve heard many people criticize his physique and how he doesn’t look like much, but Ruiz is coming to win and Joshua definitely knows it.

Andy Ruiz Jr from Imperial Valley California the man with much talent coming up, but many questions will get his opportunity to shock the world in the World’s most famous arena this weekend.

Will he make the most of his talent? Will he shock the world? Will history be made from New York? Will Joshua keep trucking along? We will find out this weekend.
