Bellator 220 Preview
By Dan McConnell
This weekend Bellator bring their cage back to the SAP Centre in San Jose, California.
Two title fights and one overall stacked card is set to provide an excellent night of fights, and make more history for the promotion.
The return of the Red King and Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald (20-5) will headline the bill in a show-topping main-event matchup. MacDonald will face off against former UFC fighter and WSOF welterweight champion Jon Fitch (31-7-1).
MacDonald returns to the ring and looks to get back in winning ways, after his defeat last time out to Bellator middleweight champ Gegard Mousasi. While Fitch, is coming off a huge victory over Paul Daley in his Bellator debut.
Looking at the co-main event, Bellator flyweight champion in Hawaii’s Ilima-Lei MacFarlane (9-0) will continue her unbeaten run, and face another challenger to her crown. American Veta Arteaga (5-2) is the next women to step up and test the 125-pound champion, can the underdog provide an upset?
Also on the card Phil ‘Mr Wonderful’ Davis (19-5) takes on Liam McGeary (13-3) in a light-heavyweight showdown, in what should be absolute fireworks. Davis won their first meeting and McGeary very much has revenge on his mind.
Current Bellator lightweight contender and former UFC champion Benson Henderson (26-8) squares up against 155-pound prospect Adam Piccolotti (11-2).
