Michael Elliott Believes it is Perfect Timing for Debut
Michael Elliott believes the stars have aligned for him to make his long-awaited debut on Friday as he prepares to step into the ring at York Hall.
Elliott will face Lewis van Poetsch on a packed MTK Global show live on iFL TV, and he’s glad that he’s waited until now to turn professional, having initially planned to do so last year.
He said: “I was set to turn over last year which I was excited for. The novelty was there and I was determined to get in the ring, but it’s become clear I wouldn’t have been ready.
“I suffered an injury which was only minor, but it took me out of training so things got delayed. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m even hungrier now.
“The setback tested my will and my determination to be in the professional ranks and fight. It answered the questions I had in my head about whether I can do it, and right now I know I can. Mentally I’ve never been in a better place.
“I’ve been ready for a while now. I’ve overcome the injuries and been in relatively good shape for a few months. All of the hard work has been done so it’s time to step in the ring and perform. I can’t wait.”
The main event of the show at York Hall live on iFL TV sees Paddy Gallagher take on Freddy Kiwitt for the vacant WBO European welterweight title.
A number of talented stars are also in action on the undercard, including Dan Azeez, Siar Ozgul, Liam Wells, Jack Ewbank and many more.
