Fabian Edwards a Free Agent
By Jon Prentice
Top UK middleweight standout Fabian “The Assassin” Edwards has today been granted his official release from his BAMMA contract with immediate effect. Edwards’ first announced the news via his Facebook account that he would no longer be a part of the BAMMA roster, thanking the promotion
“For the opportunity to showcase his skills on such an amazing platform”.
Fabian Edwards, younger brother to top 15 UFC welterweight Leon, leaves the promotion with a perfect 5-0 start to his professional career following an unbeaten amateur career. With all five wins coming via finish, Edwards is one of the hottest prospects coming out of Europe and there is no doubt that the Birmingham man will have plenty of offers going forward.
During his BAMMA career Edwards went 4-0 with wins over Aaron Kennedy, Louis King, Kent Kauppinen and most recently Claudio Conti to put him on the verge of a title shot before news of his release. His sole appearance outside of BAMMA came in his professional debut when he defeated Rafal Cejrowski via highlight reel flying knee at Bellator 179.
With Edwards being the only star name still on the books with BAMMA until today’s news broke, the promotions future now looks extremely uncertain with the vast majority of their roster having been released or signed by other promotions. Confirmation of Edwards’ next move has yet to be made however
FightPost will bring you this as soon as it becomes available to the public.
