MMA Fighter of the Week: Mason Jones

By Kieran Cobley

Mason “The Dragon” Jones takes the FightPost MMA Fighter of the Week bragging rights this week, following an impressive first round TKO in his fight against Kacper Formela at Cage Warriors 97 in Cardiff this past Saturday.

Jones was able to endure “Polish Machida”’s opening onslaught of strikes and kicks, waiting for the most opportune moment to pounce on his opponent.

That moment didn’t take long to come, with Jones landing a sweet jumping knee to Formela’s torso, followed by a barrage of strikes whilst the polish fighter was forced up against the cage, finished off with some horrific looking knees to the body, forcing the referee to call the fight.

In his post fight interview, Jones’ put the lightweight division on notice, as the 6-0 fighter let it be known he will fight who ever and where ever.

Many fans, including myself hope his next opponent will be former Cage Warriors Featherweight champion, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett, in his next fight, hopefully at Cage Warriors 100 in Cardiff’s Ice Arena on 8th December.

It seems both men are interested in the potential fight too, so here’s hoping Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan and matchmaker Ian Dean take notice.

Honourable mentions also go to Gegard Mousasi, Jack Shore and Rampage Jackson, for their impressive finishes this weekend as well.
