UFC 229 Khabib vs McGregor: The Odds
With the so-called biggest fight in UFC history less than a week away, I thought I would take a look at the odds for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 6th.
Fight Winner:
Khabib Nurmagomedov 8/13
Conor McGregor 5/4
McGregor being the betting underdog doesn’t surprise me, although I am surprised the odds are only 5/4 for a McGregor win, and I expect the odds to tighten further once the fight week show gets going. By the time of the fight, McGregor will have convinced many more that he will win. Therefore if you fancy the Khabib win, you might be better off waiting, his odds will be probably more attractive as the week goes on.
Picking how each fighter wins is interesting if you are looking for value for money. Khabib on points is 9/2 which seems remarkably good value. As McGregor always seems to tire around the 8-minute mark, even better value is Khabib winning in round 3 where you can get 8/1 and 11/1 if you think Khabib can get it done in round 4.
McGregor’s best chance of victory, many would say his only chance, is in the early rounds. The odds are currently 9/2 for another 1st round win for McGregor, and 8/1 if you think Khabib gets out of the 1st round but loses in the 2nd. McGregor is 11/1 to win on points, which seems unlikely but the odds are very attractive nonetheless.
Out of the odds mentioned, I would say the best bet for Khabib would be the 11/1 on offer for a 4th round win. For McGregor, I would go for the 9/2 odds for a 1st round win.
