MMA Fighter of the Week: A.J McKee
By Kieran Cobley
With an impressive KO finish over John Macapa, AJ McKee takes our MMA Fighter of the Week honours.
McKee took on Macapa this past weekend at Bellator 205 in Idaho, after his original opponent, Pat Curran dropped out of the fight in August due to an injury, but this turned out to be a turn of great luck for McKee as he grabbed the headlines with an impressive KO.
“The Mercenary” waisted no time in getting the win, connecting with a sweet left hand just over a minute into the first round, which put Macapa to bed.
McKee now moves to 12-0, and with impressive performances like this, I doubt we will see him losing anytime soon.
Time will only tell what is next for McKee but with such an impressive finish, which could be a contender for KO of the year, and an undefeated record, the Long Beach native is surely going to be granted a title shot soon.
Honourable mentions for this week’s award are handed out to Thiago Santos and Alex Oliveira who both secured TKO victories at UFC Fight Night Sau Paulo.
