David Price: Is That The Final Chance
It lasted 4 rounds and David Price gave it a real go but as expected it was Sergey Kuzmin who leaves Wembley with the win.
A bicep injury Price came in with, was the reason for the Liverpool heavyweight to retire on his stool after 4 hard fought rounds.
Price was well in the fight, but you had a sense that eventually Kuzmin would wear him down.
Kuzmin absorbed plenty, and Price was far from disgraced but Price’s punches couldn’t do the damage required to keep his man off him.
You have to admire the sheer resolute determination of Price, never giving up on his dream. But the opportunities won’t keep coming and at some point Price himself has to accept that it’s just not going to happen.
Ever since Tony Thompson took away his unbeaten record Price hasn’t looked the same fighter and to me it has always seemed part mental, a lack of confidence.
I said after Price lost to Povetkin that he needs to retire, and despite looking much better than he has in years against Kuzmin, my opinion hasn’t changed, enough is enough.
