Cyclone CEO Barry McGuigan introduced a compelling line up of fights. The main event will feature undefeated heavyweight prospect Martin Bakole, 11-0 (8 KOs), taking on former cruiserweight world title challenger Michael Hunter, 14-1 (9 KOs).

Hunter, who went the distance with world champion Oleksandr Usyk in his only defeat, represents by far Bakole’s toughest fight to date.

Bakole’s trainer Billy Nelson assured everyone in attendance that his man is ready and asserted that Bakole is a future world champion.

“Bakole is simply a different animal to anyone Hunter has faced before.”

Bakole himself proclaimed-

“I don’t play games! No one can scare me. I’ve been sparring with Anthony Joshua.”

Both fighters chose to be respectful and Hunter admitted that Bakole is-

“No easy fight.”

An interesting clash on the undercard will see undefeated bantamweight prospect Lee McGregor, 4-0 (4 KOs), take on tough Thomas Essomba, 8-4 (3 KOs).

McGregor stated that he sees the fight as a big test.

“It’s a big step up but one I am ready for.”

Also in attendance was the undefeated cruiserweight prospect Chris Billam Smith, 6-0 (5 KOs). Smith’s opponent was announced as fringe prospect Robin Dupre, 13-1 (1 KO).

IBO Lightweight Champion Chantelle Cameron, 7-0 (5 KOs) was not in attendance today but will feature on the card facing off against Dahiana Santana, 36-9 (15 KOs), in a very intriguing match up.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and McGuigan confirmed that Channel 5 will be showing the event live on the free to view channel.

“It will be the best bill on terrestrial television for a long long time.”

-Barry McGuigan

Barry’s son, boxing coach Shane McGuigan, was present at the event in his capacity as McGregor’s coach.

When asked by this writer how his other charge, WBA Super-middleweight Champion George Groves, is progressing in training ahead of his upcoming world title fight with Callum Smith, McGuigan stayed that preparations have gone extremely well and that they are very confident of getting the win.
