Montano Stripped

Women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano has been stripped of her title after being forced out of her UFC 228 fight with Valentina Shevchenko. She was told to stop cutting weight on Friday morning and taken to hospital to treat kidney issues.

Again no rhyme nor reason to this decision. Some get paid some don’t, some get stripped and some go inactive for years. Anyway Valentina will get the next shot at the title against a suitable opponent soon.

MayMac 2?

You feel that shiver down your spine as you hear the rumours? Na it won’t happen you say, it’s just talk you say!

That’s what I thought the last time but money talks. Can’t really blame the fighters for wanting a big payday but I would imagine it’s going to be a harder sell this time around. Mind you there will still be enough McGregor Maniacs around who are convinced Conor got robbed and he will take out Floyd easily this time round.

They say a fool and his money is easily parted. They also say fool me once, shame on you but fool me twice, shame on me.

Logan Paul

No joke but after arguably losing a boxing match with another YouTuber, Internet celebrity Logan Paul thinks he’s ready for the UFC. When he was asked about it he said it would to be able to use his wrestling.
Let’s be honest none of us would be surprised if they actually gave him a fight but to me they should kill two birds with one stone and book LOGAN PAUL VS CONOR MCGREGOR.

Biggest MMA fight of all time and if they tell McGregor to absolutely destroy him it will stop all of these guys thinking they can cross over or compete.

Cody Stevens

Absolutely horrible news as it looks like ten year MMA veteran Cody Stevens is likely to lose his eye after an incident in the cage at Honor 6 in Cleveland, Ohio. In the second round during an exchange his opponents thumb went into his eye to the extent that it ruptured the eyeball……. RUPTURED HIS EYEBALL.
Barring a few miracles Cody will lose his eye in yet another reminder that it’s no tickling contest.

Erick Silva

Very happy that Erick Silva has signed with Bellator. The guy was an absolute monster at Jungle Fight in Brazil and was seen as having tremendous potential but he had a brutal dip of form that almost exactly coincided with USADA being involved with the UFC. What are the odds of that?

Fights Announced

Few fights announced this week that caught my attention.

First up we have Tai Tuivasa vs Junior Dos Santos at UFC Adelaide on December 1st.

Then Dan Hooker gets his wish and will face Edson Barboza at UFC Milwaukee, Dec 15th.
Boxing

Amir Khan continues his comeback with a decision win over Samuel Vargas. Khan got dropped in the second round but manged to survive and get a pretty convincing decision.

Shawn Porter won a razor thin decision over Danny Garcia to take the WBC Welterweight title.

2 Take Aways from UFC 228

On that form it’s hard to see anyone in the Welterweight division beating Tyron Woodley.

If you are a women’s flyweight do yourself a favour and keep away from Tatiana Suarez.
