Bak Beats Pimblett in Liverpool
It always looked a tough fight for Paddy Pimblett and so it proved. Pimblett came ever so close in the opening round locking in a rear naked choke and the tap was expected. But Soren Bak gamely hung in the fight, and Pimblett used too much energy going for the win.
Bak got the nod on the scorecards by 48-44, 48-45, 48-46, I had it 48-46 for Bak.
Pimblett himself despite obvious fatigue after the opening round dug in to see the bell, and certainly had his moments, but Bak just had more in the tank and really that was the difference.
There was improvement on the feet for Pimblett, but his chin is so high and whenever he moves up in class it looks a big achilles heel.
Pimblett is young enough and good enough to come again but is now 1-2 in his last 3 fights and some of the shine has gone, maybe forever.
For the new Cage Warriors lightweight champion it looks like Bak will be the one getting the call from the UFC and nobody can argue it won’t be warranted.
