Geo’s Weekly Round-Up
By Geo Youngson
Bryce Mitchell
Start off with by far the most gruesome news of the week. It involves undefeated MMA fighter Bryce Mitchell and a power drill and it will sound much better in his words.

Michael Chandler

After having a look at free agency, Michael Chandler has decided that it will be best for him to remain with Bellator. Hard to argue with him really as he knows he is one of the top stars over there and well paid. He would be giving this up for just an opportunity with no garunteed success at the UFC. I think at this stage in his life it’s the right move. Do you agree?

Yoel Romero Injured
Bad news that Romero is out of the planned fight against Paulo Costa. Doctor’s have advised him that he needs 4 – 5 months recovery following orbital bone surgery. Hopefully this one gets rescheduled.
USADA For Sale?
If you’ve been tempted to believe stories being suggested then expanded on by ‘MMA insiders’ about Jon Jones bribing USADA with $10 million, please don’t. It’s so ridiculous that it’s not worth commenting on even though I just did…. so maybe there is something in it??
The GOAT Returns
Yes, the MMA world is giddy with excitement at the recently announced news that The GOAT, the Greatest Of All Time, is returning to the Octagon.
Artem Lobov will return against Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC Fight Night 138 on October 27th. It was originally planned for UFC 229 as part of the Team McGregor vs Team Nurmagomedov storyline with Tukhugov being a teammate of Khabib but issues with a failed 2016 drug test have pushed it back a bit.
Can Artem get the win and push his win rate back up to 50%??
Yair Injured

Yair Rodriguez has announced that he is injured and out of the very highly anticipated fight with Zabit Magomedsharipov.
If you remember Rodriguez was released from his contract for refusing the fight with Zabit but was brought back a few months later and the fight was announced, and now this.
I can imagine Yair “told you I wasn’t fighting him, bitches”
Tony Ferguson

It’s been announced that Tony Ferguson is ready to return after his knee injury. He will face Anthony Pettis on UFC 229, same card as Khabib vs Ferguson. If Ferguson wins that could set up a future title shot nicely.
First Female Superfight

This one is sort of inevitable because neither of them has much competition but it will be Cris Cyborg vs Amanda Nunes at UFC 232 on 29th December.
Cyborg will probably be a decent favourite but I wouldn’t write Nunes off (but then I wouldn’t be on her either).
RIZIN 13 Card

Boxing Walkout

One of the most unusual scenes you’re ever likely to see in combat sports saw boxer Curtis Harper walk out of the ring as soon as the bell rang to start the fight, in what was apparently a protest over pay. He was due to face undefeated Efe Ajagba but I guess he decided the money wasn’t worth it and left.
You do wonder why accept the fight and sign the contract and go through all of weigh in and stuff if he didn’t like the deal? Not sure where he goes from here.
