Fighter of the Week: Justin Gaethje

Fighter of the Week: Justin Gaethje

By Kieran Cobley

This weeks fighter of the week is awarded to Justin Gaethje after he knocked James Vick it in the first round of their man event clash at UFC Fight Night 135.

Gaethje dominated from the bell, landing punch after punch, with Vick only being able to slightly wobble the former World Series of Fighting champion, which Gaethje quickly came back from and put together a fight ending sequence to secure the KO victory, ending his two fight losing streak.

The question is now what’s next for Gaethje, with the American knockout artist being t least three fights away from a title shot, and has losses to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier who are currently ranked above him.

In my personal opinion, a fight against Kevin Lee would be the most viable option, with Lee being currently unmatched, and the two being similarly skilled, and a win over one of the top ranked fighters in the division would stop Gaethje being unfairly labelled a gatekeeper for the Lightweight division.

Not only this but the two both have exciting fighting styles and they would put on one hell of a fight for UFC fans, and would be a worthy headliner for any UFC Fight Night or UFC on Fox card.

Let me know who you think Gaethje should fight next by tweeting me @Cobleyreporting.
