Tom Breese To Return To Action Against Cezar Ferreira

By Jon Prentice

UK Middleweight stand out Tom Breese (11-1) looks set to return to action, with Canal Combate reporting that he is set to take on Brazil’s Cezar Ferreira (13-6) in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 17th later this year.

Breese made his long-awaited debut in the UFC middleweight division in May in Liverpool, when he put on a masterclass to defeat veteran Australian Dan Kelly via TKO in the first round. The impressive display saw Breese pick up a $50,000 performance of the night bonus and put the middleweight division on notice that the Birmingham man means business.

The victory over Kelly was Breese’s first walk to the octagon in almost two years following a serious knee injury, however he is looking to make up for lost time as he takes on Ferreira who is ranked just outside the divisions top 15. Having previously competed at welterweight, Breese is 11-1 in his career to date, with all but one of his victories coming by the way of stoppage. At 4-1 in his UFC stint, a win over Ferreira would see Breese on the cusp of the top 15 and a run towards a future title shot.

Brazil’s Ferreira has won 5 of his last 6 bouts, with his sole loss on that run coming to Elias Theodorou via decision in February 2017. At 13-6 in his career, he holds notable victories over Anthony Smith, Nate Marquadt and Thiago Santos, and he most recently competed at UFC 224 where he defeated Karl Robertson via Arm Triangle Choke in the first round. Ferreira himself will be hoping to make that breakthrough into the top 15 and make a run towards the title.

UFC Fight Night 130 goes down on November 17th 2018 from Luna Park Arena, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. No main event has been announced for the event to date.
