Geo’s Weekly Round-Up

Cage Warriors 100
Cage Warrior reach their 100th show on Saturday December 8th at the Ice Arena in Cardiff. As part of the event they have teamed up with grappling promotion Polaris who will finish off the weekend with an event on the Sunday. Its looking like it will be one ticket for both events.
It’s a great achievement for Cage Warriors, who looked to be dead a few years ago but Graham Boylan has done a great job over the last few years building it up to what it is today.

Tibau Released
Gleison Tibau has been released from the UFC after 12 years.
The 35-year-old has a pro record of 33 wins 14 loses but has lost his last 4. Some will remember him for losing a questionable decision to Khabib Nurmagomedov many years ago.
Teixeira out, Santos in
Injury has forced Glover Teixeira out of next months UFC show in Sao Paulo but they have a Brazilian replacement lined up.
It will now be Jimi Manuwa vs Thiago Santos on September 22nd. This one could be a must see fight and will be Santos first time at 205lbs.
Dillion Danis vs Kevin Lee
This could be exciting, won’t happen but it would be something if it did. Stems from comments from Lee where he said he got the better of Danis when they trained together.
Danis suggested they settle it by each putting up $100K winner takes all for a submission only grappling match. Of course Lee replied with ‘Let’s go’.
Truth is though this ain’t likely to happen, at least not while Kevin Lee is signed with the UFC. Nice idea though.

Aaron Pico vs Leandro Higo
No doubt that Aaron Pico is one of the top prospects in MMA. The 21-year-old has a record of 3-1 winning his last three by knockout, not bad for a top class wrestler.
Looks like it’s time to see what he can do against better competition. He will fight 18-4 ex RFA champion Leandro Higo at Bellator 206.

Deontay Wilder and the Fury’s
So the Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder fight looks set after Fury beat Francesco Pianeta on points. Earlier in the week Wilder had words with Tyson’s dad John at press conference, looked staged though but a bit of drama is good for everyone.
Tyson and Deontay also went face to face in the ring after Tyson’s win and it’s clear that both men respect each other despite the trash talk.
The fight is expected to take place in November or December with Las Vegas being the most likely destination.

Strabanimal
Highly regarded Irishman James ‘The Strabanimal’ Gallagher had a setback on Saturday night when he knocked out cold by Ricky Bandejas in what must be considered an upset.
Gallagher is considered the next big thing out of the Straight Blast Gym, home of Conor McGregor, and like McGregor he likes to talk.
