Rockhold vs Weidman 2 to be Finalised In The Coming Days
By Eduardo Ramon
Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman will seemingly run back their 2015 bout at UFC 230. The rematch had been verbally agreed upon by both fighters a few weeks ago, however Rockhold had issues on his side of the deal to iron out with the UFC before the fight could be made official. But it looks like everything has been resolved and the fight is expected to be signed and announced in the coming days.
The two first fought back in 2015 at UFC 194, when Rockhold beat Weidman via a 4th round TKO to win his first UFC title.
Weidman’s progress since has been hampered by injuries but last time out defeated title challenger Kelvin Gastelum via submission and Rockhold’s last victory coming from a TKO win over David Branch back in September of 2017, however, Rockhold is coming off a brutal KO loss to Yoel Romero in February and was expected to move up to light heavyweight.
A win over Rockhold would provide Weidman with some much-needed momentum and almost certainly will earn him a title shot. While a win over Weidman would get Rockhold back into the win column.
