Tyson Fury Next In Line For Deontay Wilder?
By Dan McConnell
This Saturday night the undefeated and former unified Heavyweight World Champion Tyson Fury (26-0) continues his comeback trail to the top of the division on the Carl Frampton Windsor Park fight night.
Tyson Fury has been given the task to overcome Italian Francesco Pianeta (35-4-1) in his second comeback fight. Pianeta was defeated by Wladimir Klitschko earlier in his career the man Fury defeated shocking the world in 2015. Despite The Gypsy King’s successful comeback victory over Sefer Seferi in June of this year Fury has a lot to work to do before he can compete with the best in the division. Those names include current WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua as well as WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Wilder and Joshua have been back and forth debating terms but unable to agree a Heavyweight matchup which would unify the division. This was confirmed when Anthony Joshua signed a two-fight agreement to face his next two opponents inside London’s Wembley Arena, the first opponent will be Alexander Povetkin. WBC champion Wilder has said that he would only fight Joshua in ‘The Boxing capital of the world’ in Las Vegas and not in AJ’s home-turf.

It developed this week that Deontay Wilder will be ringside in Belfast for the Frampton card with his laser focus on Fury for a future bout. Wilder’s confirmed he will be attending the event on twitter but it is unclear if the enigmatic-American actually will be present come fight night. Tyson Fury in his brash manner has welcomed a bout with The Bronze Bomber and the wheels seem to be set in motion for their showdown.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has said that the winner of the Fury Wilder fight will be considered the number one Heavyweight on the planet. The negotiations for this fight are said to be close to being done for November this year. Fury has said that he isn’t looking past the opponent in-front of him in Pianeta but the whole boxing world sure is.
After the Fury Pianeta fight, don’t be surprised to see Wilder get in the ring and the two men to face off to further hype this humongous Heavyweight clash. Just hope that there is enough security around both men!
