Lewis Ritson will fight for a European title on October 13th at the Metro Radio Arena in his hometown of Newcastle.

The popular Geordie is fast becoming a superstar and has been turning out thrilling performances of late with stunning displays of timing and punch power as he progresses towards the European title. Ritson recently won the British belt outright following a first round demolition of Paul Hyland Jr.

Ritson has also chosen to add in an extra appearance to use as a warm up fight prior to his European title fight. He has been added to the undercard of Khan Vs Vargas on September 8th and is thrilled to gain more exposure live on Sky Sports.

Riston said

“The atmosphere in inside the Metro Radio Arena was unreal in June and I can’t wait to get back in there on October 13. It’s been a rapid rise and I can’t wait to headline on the big stage again live on Sky Sports. The most important thing for me right now is keeping busy and I’m delighted to be fighting in an eight rounder on the Khan-Vargas undercard in September as well. I’m focused on winning and improving with every fight. It’s been a fantastic year for me and I want to continue to build in September and October. I’ve got a brilliant team around me that I trust and I’m confident that they can guide me at the right pace towards more major titles.”

Also featuring in Newcastle on October the 8th is Joshua Buatsi, fresh from a destructive first-round stoppage of Andrejs Pokumeiko on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s victory over Joseph Parker.

The 25-year-old fighter has quickly raced to 7-0 with 5 K.O’s and has added the WBA International title, he looks set to add more belts quickly with the pace he has set himself. Buatsi has indicated that he wants to fight fellow British fighter Anthony Yarde,

Yarde has also quickly racked up 16 victories, with a very impressive 15 K.O’s, however, many sections of boxing fan are calling for Yarde to make a big step up in terms of the class of his opponents.

Buatsi added

“The public want me to go against Yarde. It’s a fight in demand so that is the one I want. It’s good because the public interest is there, everyone is calling for it. I know that it’s one that will captivate and intrigue fans so let’s get it on. We have both been matched well and guided appropriately so far and this would be a great test for us to see where we are really at in our careers. The fans are the ones who would benefit most. These are the match-ups you need in boxing. Ultimately, we will only know what happens once we fight, but all I will say is that the ring reveals the truth – it’s very real and different once you’re in there, just the two of you. Buatsi is coming for you.”

Also featuring on the card in Newcastle is Dave “White Rhino” Allen, the “People’s Champion”, Allen has given Eddie Hearn a shortlist of names that he would like to fight on the bill as he looks to build momentum following a stunning knockout of Nick Webb, Robert Hellenius and Lucas Browne are amongst the names as is fellow Brit David Price, the latter being a fight that Allen would be particularly interested in for the British Heavyweight Title.

Allen said

“I would love the David Price fight at some point, it could be a huge fight.”

“The plumber against the plumber smasher.”

“If I’m fighting David Price, I want it for the British heavyweight title. I would fight my grandmother for the British title, I’m not bothered and I would fight any man.

The card looks to be packed with an exciting line up and Sky Sports and Eddie Hearn are thrilled to be returning to Newcastle, Hearn said

I’ll be honest, I’m counting down the days until we are back in Newcastle. Last time out was something very special and October 13 will be even bigger, Lewis Ritson is a star with a city behind him and now we are on the world title march. His fight and the full undercard will be announced at a press conference soon and fans can expect a packed night with Joshua Buatsi, Dave Allen and a brilliant clash between Glen Foot and Robbie Davies Jnr.”
