The Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix

The recently announced Bellator welterweight tournament is starting to take shape with yesterday’s announcement of most of the fighters who will be competing.

9 of the 10 competing fighters have been announced with 1 fighter still to be named, which probably will be Paul Daley who was a surprise omission from the list of names given.

Bellator 205 in September will see the opening fight which is a trilogy fight between Douglas Lima and Andrey Koreshkov. Rory MacDonald the reigning Bellator welterweight champion challenges for the middleweight title on the same card against Gegard Mousasi, win or lose MacDonald will then return to welterweight to compete in the tournament with his title on the line throughout the duration of the tournament.

With the likes of Jon Fitch and Lorenz Larkin in the line up plus the likes of Ed Ruth, Neiman Gracie and Michael Page its a good mix of established stars plus the up and coming prospects eager to take the next step in their careers.
