Nicco Montaño vs Valentina Shevchenko Set For UFC 228

The UFC’s women’s Flyweight division has seen more progression in recent months than most, and now the recently crowned champion of the division and The Ultimate Fighter winner Nicco Montaño is set for her first title defence, in what might be the toughest challenge of her life.
Montaño (4-2) is still fairly young in her so far successful MMA career. Being the inaugural women’s Flyweight Champion, she holds a rather high-profile resume considering having only 6 fights in her professional career.
After months of speculation stating that the two Flyweights would face off for the title, and several exchanges via social media, the UFC finally announced the fight on their Twitter account.
Shevchenko (15-3) is coming off what might be the most impressive win of her career with a rear-naked choke over Priscila Cachoeira back in February. The former bantamweight contender has shown to have reinvented herself and her overall skillset with the move to 125, clearly a better and more natural weight division for her.
Nicco Montaño and Valentina Shevchenko will face off for the Flyweight Title on September 8th in American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
