Under The Radar: Marcin Tybura vs Stefan Struve

By Eduardo Ramon

UFC Fight Night will be headlined by Light Heavyweight legend Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua (25-10) vs upcoming potential contender Anthony Smith (29-13) who is coming off a recent knockout over Rashad Evans. This time around we take a look at the most overlooked fight on the main card, Marcin Tybura vs Stefan Struve.

Tybura, (16-4) is coming off two consecutive losses to Derrick Lewis and Fabricio Werdum, despite these setbacks, Tybura remains a name to take a closer look at when looking at heavyweight contenders. Possessing a considerable amount of power in his stand up game while also being dangerous on the ground are just two attributes that are a part of Tybura’s extensive skill set.

Struve, (28-10) himself is also coming off two consecutive losses to Andrei Arlovski and Alexander Volkov. Struve has been a long time staple in the heavyweight division, holding wins over ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Antonio Nogueira, and the former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Being 7’0 tall, absolutely towering over almost all of his opponents, (with the exception of Alexander Volkov) it is no surprise that his nickname is the Skyscraper.

It’s a fight where both badly need the win to stay relevant.

UFC Fight Night Shogun vs Smith will take place Sunday, July 22 at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
