UFC Boise Recap:

A week after UFC 226 the UFC roadshow moved to Boise and we got some terrific action on a overall thoroughly entertaining show.

Junior Dos Santos returned from his USADA woes to defeat the UFC newcomer Blagoy Ivanov on points. Despite the comprehensive win I still have concerns over Dos Santos he seems to wear damage worse than virtually any fighter I have seen, and there seems a vulnerability about him now that wasn’t there before. Ivanov despite the lopsided loss still looked capable of pulling off the win if he had gotten a little closer and pushed the pace a little more, but his conditioning probably cost him any chance of victory.

Sage Northcutt has had the push from the UFC which obviously helps his profile but we forget how young he is, and he isn’t being allowed to develop out of the spotlight. I was impressed in him against Ottow, he overcame the early adversity to get perhaps his most meaningful win so far. He is by no means the finished product yet but there is a prospect in there, give him the time he needs.

It was good to see Chad Mendes back and despite his USADA ban and the subsequent time away he could still be a force at featherweight.

The other notable win for me was the return to winning ways of Cat Zingano her wrestling heavy tactic was too much for Marion Reneau and with the Amanda Nunes connection a few more wins and she could get herself back in the mix.

Niko Price showed some scary power to win from the bottom, one to keep an eye on for sure.
