Liam Williams & Dominic Ingle Join Forces

Williams: ‘Ingle gym has given me a new lease of life.’
Speaking with Welsh light-middleweight Liam Williams (17-2) earlier last week, the 26-year-old spoke about his decision to part ways with highly respected trainer Gary Lockett and link up with another world-class tutor in Dominic Ingle in Sheffield.

Williams, who has only suffered defeats to Liam Smith twice, said that himself and Gary had left on good terms and would continue to support each other moving forward. The move to the Ingle stable was nothing bitter or spiteful, but instead a change of scenery and to freshen up on a few aspects of Williams’ boxing career.
Ingle, who has built a reputation in recent years, working closely with some of the best talents to come up through the Brendan Ingle system has put himself in pole position for trainer of the year. Brendan sadly passed away a few weeks ago, and his legacy will forever live on. The spirit and togetherness engrained in the Ingle gym has inspired a new generation of hungry and ambitious fighters to follow in the footsteps of legends such as Prince Naseem Hamed and Johnny Nelson, who both reached the pinnacle of the sport.
This unique environment has ignited the careers of current and former world champions and brought a new wave of talent and charisma to the gym such as WBO king Billy Joe Saunders who is a new addition to the gym as well as The ‘Special One’ Kell Brook and highly touted prospects Atif Shafiq and Kid Galahad.
Williams will be surrounded by dedicated fighters and those who have reached the top, an ultimate goal for Williams, to become world champion. He will also have world-class sparring with Brook and Jason Quigley to name a few and he will be looking to push through the gears to get that shot at one of four world title belts.
Brook has recently moved up to 154lbs and will campaign at the new weight with 7lbs to spare from the gruelling 147lb limit. Opening a new chapter in his career, Brook made his return to the ring in March with an explosive second round knockout of Sergey Rabchenko and makes his next appearance at the weight when he faces Brandon Cook who is ranked #4 with the WBO, #9 with the WBA and #11 in the IBF standings on the undercard of Dillian Whyte-Joseph Parker, on July 28.
Williams is targeting a date sometime in September with a possibility of facing James Metcalf which makes for a great crossroads domestic clash for the fans.
Shoutout to MTK Global and Liam himself for giving up his time to give us an interview.
