Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz 3
By Sandi Martin

After losing 5 of his last 6 fights in the UFC and being pushed into retirement, followed by an 8 year layoff from fighting in the Octagon, Chuck Liddell(48) has officially agreed to the most unnecessary fight in the history of MMA with Tito Ortiz(43).
Today Golden Boy promotions CEO, Oscar De La Hoya, announced news of those signed contracts that will drag them both back out of retirement for a third bout that is sure to leave fans scratching their heads since Liddell already won and finished Ortiz in both previous fights.
There’s no denying that these two genuinely dislike each other in such a way that leaves little room to doubt their public grudge’s authenticity, but was that a factor here? Probably not for Chuck, but Tito no doubt wants to put his mark on the now trilogy.
Two of the wealthiest UFC fighters, both men each have a net worth of around 14-15 million dollars, so it seems unlikely that they need the money. On the other hand, how often do you hear people saying that they wouldn’t like more money?
Undoubtedly De La Hoya is planning to capitalize on the popularity of both fighters to establish himself as an MMA Promoter. Will it work? Maybe, but it is a strategy that is not without considerable risk to the future value of their respective brands, not to mention to their legacies.
The general consensus from most of the fans is that this is a terrible idea, but apparently Chuck finally heard the magic number that has him ready to trade in his rocking chair for the rigors of training camp and cutting weight before putting himself at risk of another KO loss.
Both Chuck and Tito have publicly expressed certainty that they would KO the other and that they would enjoy it, with Tito even predicting at least a half a million PPV buys! Will fans cough up the cash to see this one? Stay tuned….
