Daniel Dubois Moves to 8-0

Frank Warren’s big heavyweight hope Daniel Dubois remains unbeaten as he stopped Tom Little in 5 rounds to win the English heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London.

As the excellent John Rawling said in commentary, it was a learning fight for Dubois.

It wasn’t that Little extended Dubois 5 rounds, it was all the pre fight trash talk, that added to a valuable learning experience.

Dubois was patient, that heavy jab is some weapon, probably his most useful one. Dubois if we are being super critical, could have targeted the body a little earlier, but overall it is by far the most important outing so far in his fledgling pro career.

Little was tough, and didn’t go over the first time he got hit, he set Dubois problems he hadn’t seen before, he served his purpose.

Dubois is still very much a baby in terms of his boxing career, and there is no immediate rush with him.

Frank Warren mentioned a possible fight with Nathan Gorman for next year, Gorman would be a real test, the first proper challenge Dubois will likely face, that fight will tell us plenty about both.
