Conor Mcgregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov in the works for UFC 229
By Eduardo Ramon
Multiple reports are surfacing that the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will make his much-anticipated first title defense against none other than Conor McGregor.
Nurmagomedov (26-0) last beat Al Iaquinta back in April to win the title, McGregor (21-3) last competed in November of 2016 against Eddie Alvarez and when he himself won the UFC lightweight title, a title he never defended.
The least time we saw McGregor compete anywhere was in a boxing ring in August of last year when he suffered a 10th round KO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
There are outstanding legal issues for McGregor to resolve of course, but in his court appearance on Thursday, it was announced that a plea deal was being negotiated.
McGregor vs Nurmagomedov is a long anticipated fight and will no doubt be one of the biggest fights in the history of the UFC.
UFC 229 will be October 6, Las Vegas, T-Mobile Arena.
