Wilder v Joshua Edges Closer?
While it’s always best to treat such matters with extreme sceptism, it does appear there may be some hope in getting Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua in a boxing ring at the same time sometime soon.
Wilder has posted the following on social media:
“BREAKING NEWS for all you Anthony Joshua fans… The $50m offer for him to fight me next in the US is still available.
“Today I even agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the UK. If he prefers the fight in the UK, the ball is in their court. It’s up to them to choose.”
Rival promoter Frank Warren said on Saturday night after Tyson Fury got his show back on the road, that the worst kept secret in boxing is that Joshua will face Alexander Povetkin next, maybe not if the latest developments are to be believed.
While the latest news brings hope, boxing history tells us to proceed with extreme caution.
