McCann Suffers Heartbreaking Loss:
Hometown hero Meatball Molly McCann suffered a heartbreaking loss in front of her adoring fans as she made her UFC debut at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Gillian Robertson choked her out at 2:05 of the 2nd round.
McCann came out composed and looked dangerous, the uppercut especially looked a real threat.
But Robertson secured a takedown and McCann had to survive a couple of minutes on the ground. The Liverpool fighter survived without taking any real damage, but the route to victory had already been set.
Robertson got another takedown early in the 2nd, and the win would soon be hers.
McCann has admitted her ground game isn’t where it needs to be, and it showed, but she showed enough in surviving the 1st to give hope that in time it will be.
Hopefully McCann gets another opportunity in the UFC the journey shouldn’t end before it really starts.
McCann drops to 7-2, Robertson improves to 5-2.
