The UFC goes down from Liverpool this weekend with one Liverpudlian celebrating prior to the event even kicking off. Cage Warriors lightweight champion Chris Fishgold (17-1-1) confirmed on Saturday that he has followed in the footsteps of 87 previous Cage Warriors competitors having signed with the UFC.
The news was also confirmed by the Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan who is also Fishgold’s manager.
Fishgold will vacate the Cage Warriors lightweight title that he won at Cage Warriors 77 back in 2016 and succesfully defended on 3 occassions, most recently defeating Alexander Jacobsen via 1st round submission at Cage Warriors 88. He enters the UFC on the back of a 7 fight winning streak dating back to 2015.
Fishgold joins fellow Liverpudlian Molly McCann who has recently also made the move from Cage Warriors and makes her debut in the UFC this weekend.
UFC Liverpool goes down on May 27th from the Echo Arena and will be headlined by a Welterweight showdown between Stephen Thompson and Darren Till.
