WBA World Lightweight Title

What a main event we have on out hands live on BoxNation from midnight UK time. The Ukrainian superstar Lomachenko (10-1) challenges the Venezuelan fighting machine Linares (44-3) for the WBA world lightweight title. As spectators we are treated to the best lightweight facing the best super featherweight, both are rated number one in their divisions by Boxing Monthly.

Vasyl, in only his 12th professional contest, is looking to become a three weight world champion having won a world title at featherweight and super featherweight.

Linares, is on a 13 fight winning streak which dates back to 2012, and is hoping that his speed and greater pro experience will help him deliver the win tonight.

The confident Linares says “When I win this fight, everything in my life, everything in my career, is different.”

The bookmakers are favouring Vasyl strongly, and at very a short 1/12 odds he has the weight of expectation on his shoulders. Linares, who is the defending champion, is priced at 6/1, incredible odds for someone with the quality of Linares.

Even though Lomachenko hasn’t had many professional fights, his amateur record was impressve with 396 victories and 1 defeat, winning gold medals in the Olympics, World Championships and European Championships.

“I want to thank Linares for taking this challenge. Saturday night, it’s going to be a good bout, and we’re going to find out who is the best,” Lomachenko said.
